MAGIC PASSION LOVE

Art Contest Artists

“Magic Passion and Love of Four-Leaves Clover”

- Chieh Lee (WINNER)

$300.00  (acrylic, acryla gouache, ink and watercolor)

Chieh Lee is a blooming illustrator & motion graphite designer.  She is studying both illustration  and motion graphics at Savannah College of Art & Design.

Four-Leaves Clover is not only my autobiographic image; but also, it represents

the people who bring the positive energy to this world. In my autobiographic story, Four-Leaves Clover always tries to comfort the wounded souls and direct them to the ways of happiness. It is the Four-Leaves Clover’s magic to be able to bring lucks, joys and happiness to the people; and also, it is the Four-Leaves Clover’s passion to let the energy of sun and happiness to shine in everyone’s heart. However, there is a twist in my story: where is Four-Leaves Clover’s happiness and what support it to use its magic and go for its passion? The answer is love. There is a girl in my story who deems Four-Leaves Clover as her precious and nourishes it with her own love. The love is the base of everything. Because of love, people have passion to chase their dreams and the magic can take a place. Magic, passion, and love are the basic element to inject positive energy to this world, and my artwork of the story of Four-Leaves Clover prove this theory.

“A Happy Occasion Ready to Dance”   - Diane Kuenzli

$500.00 (acrylic)

A Minnesota transplant did volunteering as a production position for Northstar Watercolor Society before moving to Savannah where I fell in love with even more painting.  Was schooled maybe 3 years by Frank Zeller who lead us to learn composition  and abstract.   Got lucky taking my first workshop that turned out not to be watercolor but  something I swore I’d never do … acrylic and I love it cause you can always change what your doing as long as it’s acrylic.  The workshop was given by Robert Burridge’s who taught us freedom with paints.

“Pinup Magic”   - Holland Hames

$75/each

I am an illustrator from Charleston, South Carolina. I have been smearing paint and mixing ideas in the noggin since a kid. Then you get older and start to figure out what to do with your life. The only ones I cared about is the aspect of creating/reading an image, and skateboarding. So naturally I fell in love with illustration.

“Pin Up Magic”

The women covered in paint hear relate to the way I have always seen passion

and love. These beautiful women are symbols of beauty and love. The greatest passion

of mine is way paint applies itself. These screen prints are mono-types that show the

magic of how paint is applied. Everything is aligned with magic, passion, and love so

greatest beauty that has caught my eye is the destruction that is not controlled. The

type is sloppy, drippy and destructive. This works with the chaos manner the paint is smears,

and complements the subtle one color of the beautiful woman.

Caroline Rose

Originally from rural North Carolina, I’m a senior Illustration student at Savannah College of Art and Design. Much of my work is influenced by music and literature as well as my upbringing. Raised in a town with one stop light, being creative was a way of survival for me. Found objects and collage are of particular interest because they offer a barrier between tangible images, recycled media and always a sense of spontaneity. A bundle full of contradictions, the concepts behind my work often juxtapose one another, but are always filled with passion for craft, a love for exploration and a magical realism.

“In the Garden” - Ellen O’Leary

$120.00 (pigment print of original handwoven tapestry)

“Birth aka Bearings” - Ellen O’Leary

$140.00 (pigment print of original handwoven tapestry)

Ellen O’Leary is a native of Savannah. She has a BFA in Fabric Design from the

University of Georgia. Her work has been shown from Washington, DC to Indonesia

and has been collected worldwide. After 30 years of weaving tapestries, she is exploring

painting and sculpture.  She believes profoundly in the adage “Wherever you go there you are”. Her work is all  about finding the many attributes of Spirit all around her.   The artist makes her home and studio on Tybee Island, GA

“Birth aka Bearings”

At a time when I lived in a physically very different part of the country, I kept creating

works that brought me home to the Low Country. I needed to be in the mountains to

appreciate the lowlands, I guess. The distance from my birthplace helped me to get my

bearings; to find my path; to realize the Love that is everywhere if you carry it inside.

“In the Garden”

The garden or Eden is a metaphor for the state of divine consciousness. The image “In

the Garden” is an idealized version of the view from my studio. Spirit is in the egret, in

the spartina grass, the viewer. Whether we acknowledge it or not we’re all on a journey

of Self discovery. As we cultivate our interior gardens we uncover the bliss of Perfect

Love within.

“Mercer House Enigma” - Jill Howell

$450.00   (quill pen and ink wash on acid-free cotton paper)

Originally from Eastman, GA, Jill Howell graduated from SCAD summa cum laude in 2009.  Her early interests in learning and studying local history developed into a passion for representing Southern life in her artwork.  Jill derives inspiration from historically vibrant and beautiful cities like Savannah, and her ink drawings depict Southern architecture, landscaping, and culture.  Currently, Jill is completing a Savannah-based series of illustrations in her studio.

“Palm of Hope Short” - Kelly Epting

$500.00  (oil)

I was born in Columbus, GA, attended Columbus High School and Columbus State University in Columbus for undergraduate studies as I earned a B.S. in Psychology and an A.A.S. in Criminal Justice. I later attended the University of Georgia for graduate studies and earned a M.S.W. in Social Work. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and work for the U.S. Department of Defense at Fort Stewart, GA as I have worked in behavioral health services for over 13 years. I am married to my loving wife Andrea as we have 2 wonderful children, Greyson and Madelyne and live in Savannah, GA. “Numinous Embrace” - Ellen Mathews Bradley

$125  (Mixed Media/computer-generated graphic and watercolor)

College and Graduate Studies at Armstrong Atlantic State University

and Georgia State University with degrees in Education and Special Education

Two more weeks until DEADLINE!!

so the big question is … Is anyone going to submit work for my first “call for entries” contest.  I will be honest, its been a little scary and humbling to wait until November 1 - the DEADLINE.  I know many people submit work at the last minute so I really haven’t been expecting any art until around October 25 — but what happens if NO ONE submits.

I will deal.   We have to be ok with ALL OUTCOMES of all SITUATIONS!  If I’m not then this is when the Imbalance comes … and with imbalance comes not so good feelings … and it is my intention to feel good 24/7 no matter what my circumstances.   Yes, I can be experiencing some challenges - for instance, I just found out that I owe $432 to get my car fixed.   This past weekend I was counting money and feeling good that I have money. Now I have a choice - I can choose to feel bad that the money I have is going to fix my steering pump or I can feel good that I have money to pay for it!     You can probably guess which one I’m choosing!!!

I feel good knowing if I continue to ALLOW MAGIC FEEL PASSION LIVE LOVE — all that I need is always provided in a good feeling way.

Its this feeling that I want to be able to co-create with others at the Magic Passion Love Art Show — in addition to the contest entries, I’m also inviting some of my artists friends to sell their work to add to the co-creating of ABUNDANCE ENERGY!  I’m raffling a painting to raise money for H.U.G.S. in addition to donating proceeds from the entry fees to this great organization that has amazing people behind it.

If you are interested and have questions - please call or email me!  This is my first call to entries so it might be confusing.  I’m excited to hear from all of you!!

Here’s the press release!!

Magic Passion Love Art Show

Exhibition Dates: November 9, 2011 - January 8, 2012
Artist Reception, Thursday, November 10, 2011 6-8pm
Caraway Cafe, Abercorn & Broughton, Savannah, GA

We are in a transformational energy shift that is giving us an opportunity to resist it or find ways to stay in balance with the Universal Flow.  The Magic Passion Love (MPL) Art Show is an opportunity to co-create Positive Energy with other artists.   With more positive energy in the world - there is more opportunity to be productive, prosperous and peaceful! The creative intention of the “The MPL Cafe Art Show & Contest” is for artists to come together to sell their work while supporting local businesses and communities.  Artist, Joanne Morton defines Magic Passion love as a “renewable, sustainable energy source found within us - when used life feels good, when shared, wow!”

The MPL Art Show also includes Joanne’s public art project, “MPL Mass Manifesting Mobile”, an interactive project that gives people an opportunity to share their intentions/dreams to the world.  She will begin to travel with her art project again in January 2012, after taking the past year in Savannah & Tybee Island working on her own spiritual journey.  With the New Year approaching, Joanne feels this is an ideal time to continue to share positive energy from sea to sea.  People will be able to view the “MPL Mass Manifesting Mobile” as well as add their own affirmation art to the project.

Artists submissions received by November are eligible for a cash prize and other MPL prizes.  Two local artists, Denise Elliot-Vernon & Eric Wooddall  and Doug Chayka, SCAD professor will judge the Magic Passion Love theme entries.  The art will be on display at Caraway Cafe until January 8, 2012 and available for purchase.  The winner will be announced at the artist reception on Thursday, November 10 from 6pm - 8pm.  Soulful singer, Jill Chang will perform throughout the evening.

The artist reception will also showcase art selected by Joanne Morton featuring the artists, Anna Singletary’s brightly painted bottles with images of pop culture icons, Isak Dove’s magical artwork on hand painted t-shirts & jewelry, Kim Swann’s passion for footwear is esquitelly expressed in her water color boot paintings, Eric Wooddell’s unique spiritual  interpretation madalla art and of course, lots of Magic Passion Love art!!

Proceeds of the sales & raffle will go to Heads-Up Guidance Services (HUGS) is a non-profit organization serving the Savannah community by providing both therapeutic and vocational counseling to disadvantaged children and adults.  http://www.headsupsavannah.com/

Answers to some Contest Questions!

Thank you for your interest in submitting your art work to the Magic Passion Love (MPL) Cafe Art Show & Contest!   I have some answers to some of the questions that you might have regarding submitting …

1.  Can anyone submit?

YES - it doesn’t matter where you live on Planet Earth - you can submit your work.  You can mail it to Dragonfly Studio, 1204 Hwy 80, Tybee Island, GA 31328

2.  How to return art to you ?

The intention is to SELL your work so I haven’t officially come up with a game plan to return the art — so let’s cross the bridge when we get it.  For now, our affirmation is “All the art in the MPL sells easily to people who really love paying money for art!”

3. Why digital prints? One of my intentions is to sell MPL inspired art created by others online and to do this, I need the art!   I am planning to travel with my public art project and would love to be able to cross-pollinate our creative MPL energy to create a bigger WOW!  If you aren’t interested in participating in the online market and still want to submit, please still submit an image because I am creating a sell book!  And we need them for publicity.

4.  Can I use something I’ve already made?   YES! I have no doubt that many artists have already created work inspired by the ideas of Magic Passion Love - a renewable, sustainable energy source found within themselves!!  Its in YOU!

5. How many submissions can I submit? With every $25 entry fee, we are allowing 2 pieces of art - you can submit as many $25 entry fees you want!

6. How much is the cash prize?   I am using the part of the entry fee for the cash prize - so the more people who enter the more it is!  The minimum will be $50.

7. Who are the judges?  The judges will be announced once I have the 3rd judge, right now, we have a local artist and a SCAD professor.

8. Anything else?!   Feel free to email me if you have any other questions!

THANKS!!!

First Day of FALL!

Can you feel the energy of seasons shifting?!  Today in Savannah (& Tybee Island) where I am writing, it is absolutely one of the most beautiful days ever!   I woke up feeling a little emotional & fearful cuz sometimes as humans that’s how we feel.    I knew that I didn’t want to stay in this vibration all day so I reached out and chatted with some friends who remind me of how I really feel — I feel good!

evolution

Even in the midst of still feeling a little crabby and scared - it’s almost 4pm and I woke up at 8am today so throughout the day I’ve had moments of “Yes, I feel good” - “I feel good BUT!” …. or my another new thought pattern, “I feel good, its just that…”  — its these challenges that I’m finding helpful to understand what I’m blocking!   So many of us are experiencing moments of various types of energy flows - I’m pretty sure it because of this planetary shifts that have been talked about for the past few years.   Everything is shifting — evolving as it should!   Life is always evolving - I’m curious to see what happens with more collective consciousness directed toward positive energy - peace - love.     This is why I’m asking for Artists to Submit their work to the CAFE ART SHOW & CONTEST — because I’m curious to see what will happen when artists share their MAGIC PASSION LOVE (MPL) energy.

You see, its my personal MPL Energy that is allowing me to feel good today while the crap gets worked out — if I continue to take inspired actions (ie buy fresh fruit/go to ocean), think good thoughts ( I am grateful for the ocean and my friends) and get online and POST!!

blissjoyloveThank you so much for your interest - I’ll try to keep posting more ideas I have about MPL - Spiritual Evolution and other trickydame tidbits to inspire.  Just knowing you’re out there making art inspires me!

PEACE!
